Investors of Tomorrow hosted its sixth annual InvestYoung Stock Pitch Competition on December 3rd, 2016 at the Downtown Toronto YWCA Centre.
From 38 stock pitch submissions in the preliminary round, 17 pairs of competitors were invited to compete in the national final round in Toronto. The groups had to prepare and pitch a buy recommendation on a North American equity to judges which consisted of academic professionals and industry experts. Some of the organizations represented in the judging includes TD, Scotiabank, BMO, Qatalyst Partners, Credit Suisse, PwC, Empire Life, Paragon Partner and others. The students went through a rigorous selection process which consisted of a preliminary qualifying round at their respective schools. During the day, students were also given the opportunity to learn about the Energy (Solar, Wind, and IPPs) and Software as a Service (SaaS) industries through a workshop hosted by Diyang Yu (Curriculum Director) and Peter Shi (Curriculum Officer). Furthermore, Vuru (fintech startup) and Women in Capital Markets gave an educational presentation to the competitors.
